Known as tortrix, tortricids and leafroller moths. Many larvae of the Tortricidae create protective shelters by folding or rolling leaves using silk. Here in the Eddys I’ve seen moths from all three of the tortricid subfamilies: Chlidanotinae, Olethreutinae and Tortricinae. See statistics and unknown moths below. Undescribed, new or just not yet sure of species of Tortricidae
All have been dissected and finding females will help with a few of these species. DNA barcoding is the next step for some of these. The Cydia has been barcoded but I’ve not found any females despite this being a locally common moth.
